In Response To: CYBRFRK's Idea Could Work... (prometheus) I agree, CYBRFRK's idea is the best I've seen. Peer review is the standard in publication of scientific research for a reason- it distributes labor and maintains a minimum level of quality for publication. Having a board of voters prevents a video from being unfairly accepted or rejected due to individual tastes, and giving one person (Louis) the final call on videos that the board accepts keeps Louis in charge of his webspace and bandwidth. If CYBRFRK or others are willing to code such a system, I say go for it. : I've read the posts on the forum thus far and this is the only idea that : could seriously help. Why do you think science journals have such : cutting-edge and good material in them? The answer is the peer review : process. Basically the author(s) is/are turned down if their work is not : worth publishing. There's only limited space in the issue, which is : analogous to the limited bandwidth of HBO (and Louis' patience!) : The problem would be implementing this system. First, you have the time : commitment of wading through the videos. This could be accoplished with : CYBRFRK's suggestion of 10-15 people, but I suspect it would take more. : This process would also slow down the time from submission to posting. : Because of this, it might make people think more about what they are : submitting and cut down on 'shotgun submissions' : Yes, something drastic is needed, and CYBRFRK's idea could work.
