I'm proud to say that I read your entire post, and I've also read the entire topic up to my post. With that said...
It's amazing to see you guys in action when you want to fix a problem. Up until reading this topic, I wasn't all that aware of the quality issues that plagued the Halo movie community, for two reasons:
1) I was spoiled by Red vs Blue.
2) I don't watch all that many Halo movies, compared to some people.
I really don't understand why it's so hard for people to actually take time to review their submissions before uploading them, to make sure they're a) something that someone else wants to watch and b) something that they're happy with. Let's look at my two dozen multiplayer submissions to the H2 dialogue databank, for example. (Yes, I know they're not the same as Halo movies, but there's an obvious parallel.) Before I started recording, I wanted to make sure that there was a demand for such content. Since there was a multiplayer section for Halo, but not one for Halo 2, I figured out that there WAS demand...or so I thought. I then searched around for the best possible (read: most silent) location I could find, that would be suitable for recording, and once I figured out where to go and established what conditions would cause the announcer to say a certain line. I'd record, and then edit the recording afterwards to try and remove any vestiges of background noise, although the location I use to record is pretty quiet as it is. I made sure the editing job didn't screw up the original recording.
Why is it so hard for people do do something like this? One of the Overclocked Remix judges once said that you shouldn't submit anything that you're not happy with, and I'm a believer in that. Something tells me that all of the people who submit these movies aren't actually happy with the final product, but they just submit them so they can say, "I MAEK HALO 2 MOVIE AND I R AWSUM OMGWTFLOL."
It's cool to see that CYBRFRK's suggestion is in review, because I have a feeling that it's going to work out in the end, one way or the other. If it doesn't, then there are many other similar yet decent suggestions in this topic. I'd offer one myself, but I can't think of any new way(s) of looking at and attempting to rectify the problem, mainly because I like the idea of peer review. It works in the video game remix community, and most likely will work here.
Thus ends my (somewhat encouraging and newbish) two cents and mini-rant.
