In Response To: Actually, I believe your suspension idea is wrong. (Powermac)

: Feel free to call me out about this, or someone can come up with proof.

: I heard/read somewhere that the warthog uses "Mag-lev" suspension,
: or "Magnetic Levitation." This makes sense, too.

: Each pod contains an electric motor, and there are four arms in total
: extending from a central point under the warthog. Each "pod"
: above it has a very strong magnet, and the undercarriage has a strong
: magnet as well. They repel eachother, creating a completely indestructible
: suspension system that, depending on the strength of the magnets (and if
: they're electromagnets, their strength can be changed thus creating a
: variable suspension system [hey Master Chief! We want a smoother ride!]).
: The magnets, are of course, both positive or both negative charges so they
: oppose each-other. Heck, if they're electromagnets as I mentioned, they
: could be switched to positive_negative for shipping, thus compacting the
: warthog and making it quote immobile.

: Your propulsion idea is great (except the need for brakes - why not just
: reduce current? The warthog doesn't stop on a dime.)

I don't recall hearing anything about a Mag-Lev suspension anywhere (Though I did hear about mag-lev trains recently.) So I can't really comment on that.

Even with reducing current to brake, you run into the problem of intertia. In this case, the wheels could end up pushing the engine until you come to a stop, causing the possibility of damage to both the eletric motors and the engine. For a completely safe stop, I would have built the Warthog so that when you let off the gas, power to the wheels completely shuts off while the engine can run at whatever speed you wish (much like pressing the clutch of a manual transmission), at which point you can use the brakes to slow down, with no electro-magnetic interference between the engine or the wheels.

Heck, it might be more efficient to give it a clutch pedal and just 1 gear.
