Have you ever seen or held a 30mm shell? Imagine 6000+ of those being fired per minute and tell me it's a "mini"-anything. :-) By the way, although it sounds outrageous, the military now has a "super gun" that makes Puff the Magic Dragon (the six or more vulcans carried by an AC130 transport and fired by computer) look like a pansy. Where Puff fired just over the 100k per minute mark, the new gun fires over 1 million (yes, 1 million) rounds per minute. Absolutely nothing can withstand that. Check out New Scientist from a few months back if you want the full scoop. Also, FYI: there is another reason that individual soldiers don't carry mini-guns, other than just the weight and bulk. They cost too damned much. Peace!
