You aren't the only one. Don't be surprised at anything you may find in the air, land, or SEA. I obviously can't say what was being looked at, what's but developed since, what's been thrown out since, how many of Shikai's designs I stole on my way out, or anything else.

Everyone on the team knows my famous question: "Where are the guns? Why aren't they bigger?". Every time we'd get a sketch from Shikai or a texture from him or Paul or whoever ... the first question from me ... "Hey, how come I can't see any guns?". Granted, it was annoying them to a great extent, and I was also (in general) the only person who kept pestering them. You'll find that Bungie ... when revisions, and further input, and more revisions, and more input ... will have made, in Halo, the coolest "vehicles" that you have ever seen in a game.

They had already made basic designs of them before I left. They are the coolest pieces of machinery (even that's not the right word) that I had ever seen ... FOUR textures on a Covenant hovercraft?? FOUR LAYERS? UV map, texture map, light map ... oh and that special sheen ... reflection map, if you like. Bump-mapping on water with a Universal Physics Model making the sun actually reflect accurately ... and I think it was even refracting, etc. underwater!

I can promise you one thing as the former Producer / Creative Developer (and Bungie will not mind me saying this):

THE WATER WILL *NOT* BE WASTED.

Trust me on this. There's no way you go to all that work in creating the UPM ... and then don't use the water - for very, very cool things. No one, especially Bungie, would waste that opportunity. We ACCCIDENTALLY found an incredibly cool use while I was still there. I won't talk about it, simply because it will probably be part of the game, and Bungie has not said anything about it publicly.
