Ok you say ammunition will be smaller and lighter, but more powerfull?? how is this possible, if the round is lighter it has less penitrating power! Now you could very well develop a lighter and more powerfull explosive to fire the round but that wouldn't decrease the weight significantly. Now the only way of making the bullet more powerful is adding an explosive, which is allready done on a small scale albeit illegaly, and this decreases the weight significantly but makes the round more prone to missing, If your bullets are very lite then a small breeze could put them off their target. Also I do not want an incredibly light minigun unless the weapon has no recoil, the weight absorbs the recoil greatly(Unless you have solved the recoil problem).

Now think for a minute, a minigun is very cubersome the way it is designed here. The trigger is on a grip type thing on top and to the rear of the weapon kinda like a weed wacker. If you got yourself a light machine gun designed similar to a large rifle you can raise it over your head and spray bullets around, you can lie down put it to your shoulder and it becomes incredibly powerfull since you are accurate and you have the high rate of fire!

The only advantage a minigun has over the light machine gun is rate of fire. but why fire 6,000+ rounds of ammo per minute instead of 750-1000? Again guerrila warfare, you're gunna wana conserve ammo. And the light machinegun does that extremely well considering it has an above average but not incredibly fast firing rate, and it is more accurate. The light machine gun is verstile and thats why every major army uses them.

A minigun is ment to be mounted on a vehical! thats why no one has tried to make a minigun out of light composites to equipe regular soldiers with. Even the navy seals don't carry miniguns, they carry m60s and 800rounds of ammo, so I think they could handle a minigun. We allready have very light materials that weapons are being made of, why isn't anyone making a super light minigun? Again because they are putting miniguns on helicopters and jets.

PS: They only person I have seen who is really accurate firing from the hip is my friends dad(but with years of practice!)

PPS: not getting pissed here I just want a light machine gun:) and I am tired of miniguns(although it was cool in Predator!:))
