I've played Sacred Icon quite a bit, but I've never seen actual Marines there. Corpses, yes. Living Marines, nope. : Also the humans were on Halo for a while. At least as long as it took the
Indeed. But this doesn't mean they got inside the Quarantine Zone. : Remember humans can move on foot like the Arbiter first did. It's not all
The only way that we know of to get inside the Quarantine Zone is the same route that the Arbiter used. Since this route involves the lowering of the shield, then it is doubtful that the humans did beat the Covenant inside, as there is no mention of the shield having been lowered and then restored. Right now, I'm just acting on the information that I've seen, which is that the Arbiter's route lowers the shield, and the first dead Marines you encounter are on that same route. If those Marines were IAC's troops, then the shield would have been lowered when they passed through that area. And since Miranda said nothing to the Chief about finding a doorway inside before the Covenant fleet arrived, then they would have clearly witnessed said shield lowering at any point afterwards. Since there was no mention made, it stands as a reasonable assumption that the shield was always up. Also, I seriously doubt any human in their right mind would try to hold an area around the Quarantine Zone with a huge Covenant fleet right over their heads. Miranda says she wants to maintain a low profile. More likely than not the mission was a simple extraction: get in, grab the Index, get the hell out. Long-term occupation is not the goal here. |
