In Response To: Re: End of the Evaluation (Count Zero) : Yes, I have. Cool, a commonality. : The point I was trying to make, apparently too indirectly, is that I disagree
I got the point of what you were trying to say and, in my own subtle way, disagreeing with it. I don't know at what point in the development cycle Bungie choose to try Havok 2 or if they used Havok 1 up until the second generation engine was released. However, I know that other developers have seen easy integration with their projects and as you've said, depending on when they chose to try Havok 2, it could be easier or harder than I made it sound. With that point aside, they still would've had two months after Havok 2's release at the GDC to integrate it with the tree and have it up and running to show off at E3. That is ample time to integrate it no matter what stage they were at - some developers (very early in the development stage) have integrated Havok 2 in a single day, or so I've read. Back to the statements about the in house physics engine, hmm? Well, even if somebody could provide a link to when it was said, it doesn't mean they couldn't change their mind and seize a better opportunity later on. Who cares about self-image if somebody is doing something better than you and you can use it? : It's usually better to try to notice the point where there's really nothing
I understand there is a point where the topic is, for all intents and purposes, dead. However, what if the person didn't read all of the replies before posting? What if they missed something while reading it the first time? I guess we can say there is an exception for everything and one should always assume the person read what was previously posted, but I do like to point it out directly to them so I know they saw it. -Nick |
