In Response To: Re: Nop, it uses Havok (Nick) : Read At this stage of the game, don't you think it's a little late for Bungie to be in an 'evaluation' period on their physics engine? At the moment, they have a working game. It's not finished, but it's far enough along to be included in the Pentathalon, and the E3 Demo clearly demonstrates a functioning Physics engine. And, to use your argument, Halo 2 is a big game with a well-known name. Havok sure wouldn't waste any time moving that name onto their list of titles... regardless of what Trinity Investments might say. It's all just rumors until Bungie or Havok specifically make the statement. And no, i can't find any instances where it is specifically stated that Bungie is creating a Physics engine of their own. But i do know three things... 1) Bungie created their own Physics engine on Halo: CE. Given that they've got more time on Halo 2, i don't see why they wouldn't do it again. 2) Bungie has not specifially stated that they are using the Havok physics engine. Using Havok would seem to constitute significant news. The fact that we haven't heard anything relating Havok to Halo 2 at this point says something. 3) Your one piece of corroborating evidence is from promotional information for a Venture Capital firm. Look, i don't know why I let myself get caught up in this. I'm also not sure why this is such a big issue. Havok is a nice bit of physics. If Bungie used it, then yay for them. If they didn't use it and made their own, then, once again, i say yay for them. |
