We shall see. I firmly believe Halo 2 will use the Havok 2 physics engine because it is a superior solution to what is in Halo and it would save Bungie time. Many companies give Havok a long technical evaluation and review it internally - integrating it with their game to see how it works out performance wise. Bungie has probably done this with Halo 2 in order to check everything out. Developers who are evaluating the engine don't make it on the list of clients I'd suppose but saying that a development house is currently using the engine in their game is no real stretch. Since the engine would be integrated into the source tree during the evaluation, the game is technically using the engine. Also, Halo 2 is a big name (everybody knows Microsoft, not everybody knows Valve Software) and while Bungie wouldn't yet be a client, telling potential investors that they are using Havok's engine could be a big plus. Anyway, as I said, we'll see what happens. -Nick |
