Are you sure about this? It seems to me that since you are not equi-distant from all parts of the sphere, there would be a gentle pull in all directions, however, somewhat stronger to the closest part of the sphere... I dont have any background in 3/4d spacial physics so I'm speaking from intuition here. It makes sense that a lot of the gravity from a shell would cancel out, but i dont think all of it would because the proximity to each of the infintesimally small cones is different...oh well, I think I'd need pen and paper to think this one through. .:Magh Tuireadh
