In Response To: Re: Durandal's first return to earth (Cybergeek)

in the order that they are presented

: 1) it's possible, in many s/f movies/books/games/etc to detect a radio signal
: after it's been sent. it's REALLY possible for the s'pht who're hacked
: into the Marathon's core (and therefore the cyborg Pfhor controlling them)
: to notice a power surge to the message-sending-dish (not radar, i dun
: think, but i'm not sure what else to call it :), and, if not intercept the
: message, at least figure out which way the dish is pointing, to within a
: few degrees.

well um ya true, the phore would be prety confused if the dish was pointing in 1 direction and leela told you it went somewhere else.

a few deggres in space is very big you know?

and if they knew where the dish was pointing and could find where earth was we would all be dead a Durandal would of never tied a knot with the guard

: 2) "delaying the attack long enough for Durandal to piss 'em off" -
: this sounds to me as though you're basing at least some of your
: assumptions on the idea that Leela and Durandal were acting in
: concert...i'm not sure that they were. In fact, they had rather different
: goals. Leela's was to simply save the ship. Durandal's was ... well, read
: the pages :)

Durandal wasent working in concert, besides pissing them off, is the attack on lwo'onn(sp) were he explicitly states that his attack delays the phor assault on earth

The Pfhor invasion of Sol has been
recalled, and for now Earth is safe. But
man's respite from war means another
cataclysmic battle for the S'pht. The
slavers have not suffered a defeat like the
one we handed them today since the Nakh,
the last extant client race of the Jjaro,
rebelled six thousand years ago.
(all roads lead to Sol)

: 3) who says the pfhor haven't already covered a lot of that sphere? i seem to
: recall leela saying something about "pfhor ships in other nearby
: systems"...

see argument 1, if they already know where it is where all dead:)

to sum it up

Leela squwering of her dates confuses and delays the phor assault on earth
