I respect people who believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Where I have a problem is when people believe that because they are opposed to gay marriage or abortion that that makes them better Christians than those who believe differently, or when they believe that the have a God-given right to impose their beliefs on everyone else - that's fundamentalism and in its extreme form leads to things like the bombing of abortion clinics, 9/11 and the London bombings and Jewish settlers who kill Arabs (yes, I'm Jewish, but we all have to find a way). In my mind there is no single "right" path. Governments should get out of the business of defining marriage - in fact, they probably shouldn't even use the term in their laws. My wife and I have many gay friends, many of whom have had stable relationships for as long or longer than our 20 years together. I'm not going to get into an argument about gay marriage here, but I just don't see why people get so bent out of shape about it. It should be a matter of religious freedom.
