Well, I was thinking more along the lines of PiPPiN (gotta get the correct capitalization there) and XBOX being very similar in concept - take a computer and make a console out of it - and made by antithetical companies, Apple and Microsoft. So Bungie's first console game was their renowned Mac first-person shooter, as a launch title for Apple's MacOS-based console platform, made in a time when they were an extremely Apple-centric company (Apple and Bungie even collaborated on the NetworkSprocket technology of Apple's old GameSprockets, which was the early foundation of Myth TFL's networking technology AFAIK). Of course the PiPPiN died and Bungie never became a fantabulously wealthy console developer.
I mean, until Microsoft bought them, and turned Halo, which was basically a modern re-envisionment of Marathon, into the hit launch title for their Windows-based console platform, which was a smash success (well, compared to PiPPiN at least), and they are of course now entirely Microsoft-centric, being a subsidiary of them and all. That's all the irony... just the parallels between Marathon, Bungie, Apple and PiPPiN back then and what could have become of that, and Halo, Bungie, Microsoft and XBOX now and what has become of them.
