Well, I read the first half of the link you gave above.

I disagreed with most of it... but that may have been largely influenced by the way it was written.

But I don't have the time to dissect the entire thing. Maybe another day...

In any case, I do agree with part of what you've posted here. Many people who think they are rational are, in fact, merely anti-spiritual. They just don't like what they've seen and start associating themselves with the other party. Ditto the other way.

However, as you said they are compatible and it is a fallacy to think someone can only be one of the two. It is also a fallacy to see something that isn't spiritual as something that is rational. They aren't exact opposites.

I do disagree with saying they are the same thing, however. I'm curious as to why you think they are the same. You can be very rational without being the slightest bit spiritual and vice versa. When one thinks of "spiritual" most people do not think of the same thing as "rational".
