I know nothing about this rumor. All my sekit Bungie knowledge is ancient history and antique trivia. (Pop quiz: what was Bungie's first-ever console title, and what was the full name of the console it was for? And it's OTHER full name, in Japan? And why does this make Halo as an Xbox launch title all the more ironic?).

I'm just prone to classification and categorization of things. Anybody who was a Myth fan will remember my Canon Scales (which apply equally well to Marathon or Star Wars or any other collaborative body of fiction). So yeah, I'm just ranting about what is or isn't a sequel to be pedantic. I know nothing about this rumor. These are not the droids you're looking for. Move along.
