Conjecture: The Marathon Multiverse. | ||

In Response To: Re: The Halo versus Marathon case. (Claude Errera) Conjecture: PiD, the Marathon Series & Halo are all related in a multiverse through the two beings spoken of in the Unformatted KYT Term. And maybe the Jjaro dug the hole that is known as the Great Devoid in Myth, too. : Let's try to keep SOME semblance of reasonableness going here. Otherwise,
*GASP*! You mean they aren't? They sure seem like the personification of chaos & evil to me! : [big snippage]
: I invite you to actually READ the Halo timeline, as laid down by Bungie/MS.
Thanks for the cites, but I really don't need them. I got my first copy of Marathon (4 floppies! gosh, that's a big game!) on Christmas Eve, 1994 (thanks FedEx!), and have been around here reading nearly as long as you have been here writing. I just never post under my real name.
Colony Ship For Sale, Cheap? I would have _given_ her pink slip to the first being who could provide me with the only two things really I wanted when I was in "that" room; a nova bomb (didn't know the real name for it then, did we?), and the location of the Pfhor homeworld.
*Read*? You mean that thing that you big people do with *words*? You know, you really should have that ugly goiter on your sarcasm gland removed. How about you take some of your own advice & check out this:
http://marathon.bungie.org/story/cortana.html
Specifically the entry for May 19, 1999. Written by Matt Soell. Maybe not the literal werd-o-gawd, but it's darn close. Here's a paste.
[quote]
...things are often more related than they may first appear. For example, there's no obvious similarity or connection between the Marathon world and the Myth one....
The Great Devoid was the big hole in the ground at the end of Myth:TFL.
How did it get there?
Matt wouldn't reveal what was at the bottom of the hole!
If The Apostile Matt can connect Myth to Marathon, then a connection amongst Marathon, Halo, & PiD should be a no-brainer for mere sinners like you & me.
Now go reread the whole original story contained in the text of The Unformatted KYT Term.
http://marathon.bungie.org/story/kytterm.html
This is a core idea (did i hear someone say "Duality"?) that must have been kicking around Bungie since before they thought up the name. Ambient creatures might get jettisoned under the pressure of a shipdate, but core concepts don't.
Gee, we have a pair of characters in both games (the entire Marathon series counted as 1 game in 3 volumes. and 3 creditcard bills.) who seem to be joined at the hip. Is that _really_ just a coincidence? Or are these the beings spoken of in the KYT term? If it is them, we know that their actions can change the nature of reality. We saw it up close in Marathon Infinity.
It's not the Marathon universe. It's a multiverse.
Besides, this conjecture is just sick & twisted enough to be attractive to a bunch of perverts like the guys at Bungie.
: See if you can reconcile the actual EVENTS with what happened in the Marathon
No need. The universes aren't identical, but there's _mucho_ overlap. Just like the levels in Marathon Infinity. Cubed. Everything that happened, happened. Everything that will happen, will happen. Just like they said. But, will we be around to see it?
And just how many times did Bungie themselves have to "adjust" the original Matathon timeline? This is the way *I* would save myself all the effort involved in keeping the timelines straight.
: When you're through, I'll ask you to explain how the Marathon symbol, a
Sixty-five million years ago (or there abouts), the W'rkncacnter crashed into what is now the Yucatan peninsula. How do you say W'rkncacnter (or just "death", "chaos", or "destruction", take yer choice) in Jjaroese? After all, that room contains the trigger for The Gun Pointed At The Head Of The Universe, right? Wouldn't the builders of Halo wanted to put up the biggest warning sign that they could?
And the fact that we humans have been touched by a W'rkncacnter would neatly explain why the Covenant love us so much.
And it's not the body of the Master Chief that is recognized by 343 GS, but his soul.
: Please try to stay away from lame time travel arguments.
No need to invoke something as mundane as mere time travel. Not when you have multiple universes to play with. And if multiple universes give you a headache, I suggest you direct your complaints to Bungie. They're the ones who started it all in Marathon Infinity. I'm just attempting to wallpaper over the cracks.
