JMS didn't write his scripts 3 years in advance -- he devised his arcs 5 years in adavane then wrote scripts on-the-fly. Thats why series 5 of B5 is so messy -- S4/5 were going to be overlapped and the story spread over 2 series (s5 was the subplots of s4)... but I digress :D : However, I very much doubt Bungie was thinking about Halo's plot while
That's why I feel strongly that the Halo universe is a revisionist version of the Marathon universe -- the M1M2M* universe was incredibly messy by the end of the trilogy, but something powerful enough that you wouldn't want to drop it completely -- the easiest and tidiest way out would be to reshuffle the Marathon universe a bit so there's a nice big space for Halo. It is, however, worth noting that NAthan Bitner related directly that "Halo takes place after the launch of the Marathon and before the return of the escaped colonists from Tau Ceti" or words to that effect. The only way I can see to reconcile this wee nugget is to take the revisionist way out :D [z] [z] | |
