In Response To: Re: Yes, Yes, YES! : ) (long again) (Shishka) : I'm aware you've put a lot of thought into this, which is why I'm curious to see your DVD release (My bad about the download thing), and see how you put it together. No big deal. It's just not practical, size wise. Besides, who wants to watch a film at 320x240? ; ) You'll never know how much time..... hehe. : ) : My question about your movie is such: Will it be something everyone can
My film..... probably just the fans. Simply because I'm restricted to present only what's in the game. Now a major motion picture...ha. Sky's the limit. : ) : I realize you can't please everyone, but I'm interested to know how you're going to
Plot is not problem; we got oodles and oodles of plot. It's story and characters that is the challenge. Especially with the limitations of the game dialog and actions. Now try to match actions in a game you have no control over...believe be brother, it isn't easy. But I am happy with enough of what I've seen to know it has great potential. : Things like... How are you going to develop Master
Because of dialog restrictions, what's in the game is what we've got. Because I don't have a development kit; all control, camera actions, footage, and dialog have to be captured "in game" for this project. You'd be surprised how imaginative you have to be. : ) : It's a little of both. You're like me, you come off pretty strongly, but you
Well, if it never is made, well never know. You answer reminds me of a poem. The author's name escapes me but I believe a line went like this: "The most painful words in either breath or pen are these: "What might have been." : And it's not like people go "Ah, oh well, my book has
Ah, well I see maybe why you’re panicking. Having Bungie drop everything to work on this would be unwise and foolish. That's not what I'm proposing at all. Bungie could have "control" as you put it, without running the day to day. Bungie makes games. They should continue to make games, and leave the filmmaking to the filmmakers. (Just like the filmmakers should leave the game developing to the developers? ; ) : And what if Bungie, who would now be fishes out of water, spent all their time for a solid :year working on this movie instead of the games they love to do? If the movie turned out :badly ANYWAYS, then that's THAT much time Bungie will feel they've wasted. (see above) Time spent in perusing an honorable goal, is never wasted. Even if it was a failure, you learn from that failure and use that knowledge on the next project. We learn far better from a failure or defeat, than from an easy victory. : The fans also demand for things like "smoke grenades," "two
Don't underestimate them. I'm sure you'd like to pick the lamest, off the wall requests from the rabid game fans, and sight them as reasons not to move forward. Don't limit yourself by looking at only the 12 years-olds. There are plenty of other fans with a greater sense of aesthetics, and understanding of what would work and what wouldn't. : 2 days? He he, I've never taken more than 20 hours in Halo. No no, that's not what I ment. If you look at the game's day to night cycle, the entire time MC is on HALO takes a little over 2 days. This was covered in a previous topic thread. I'm saying if Bungie can make a game that takes 7-20 hours to play, but in real time it lasts 2 days, well, then making a film that lasts 2 hours and still covers the 2 days, is very easy and is really a non-issue to make the film. : *nods* We'll see. That's really all I can say. But then again, I'm not a
Don't worry. I'm sure even if 1 million copies of the DVD were given for free for the fans and we got 999,999 positive reviews back, you'd still think it sucks. : ) You don't have to believe. All I have to do is say, "Yes it can be done..." one more time, than everyone else saying, "No, you can't." The rest will take care of itself. Faith manages. ; ) : Sorry about that again. And I'm not going to watch your movie through the
No problem. I expect the phone book........ : ) : That's cool, what role did you play in the creation of these flicks? I'm not
Everything from actor, to locations manager, sound & film editor, director of second unit, production assistant, videographer, transportation manager, extra,....you name it. The only thing I haven't done is make-up. I have make television commercials, and digital photography in my spare time. : ) Thanks for the interest. : That... Was a bit of a joke, mostly directed at myself. Sorry. ;) I just didn't understand where that came from..... : For the record, I've been speaking about a high budget full motion picture,
Just because a company says they will make a great GAME doesn't make it so either. (look at Dikatana). That's no reason not to do it. Hell, HALO might have flopped. and then where would we be? : ) People might have said, "Buy an XBOX? Just for One game!??! Forget it!" and I'm sure some did. But hell that didn't stop, over one million people spending on average over $350.00 to buy HALO. Now that alone says a lot. : Ya know? One of us should get Matt's attention, see if he has time to address
I know I got Dave's attention. : ) Maybe if we could get Matt onboard that would help. I wish I could say more, but I promised........ I understand your fear, because that's where all this resistance is coming from. And to a degree, I share it. I want this to be a great film to. : ) But even with that fear, I still think it should be done. It needs to be done. It's begging to be done. It could be EPIC. Because I have faith in the great filmmakers I've seen and industry people I've worked with. I think you would have a lot to contribute to the film project. Sometimes the best help is an opposing point of view. It keeps you sharp, and gives you perspective. Not everyone had to see eye to eye to help each other. : )
