Well I was more thinking along the lines if you wanted to treated the grenade slots as a more generic 'throwable, consumable device' and have several different types, of which you choose a maximum of two. Instead of ones that just explode in slightly different ways and do damage, there could be ones that have EMP or gravity effects, or generate a temporary, stationary shield to block damage instead of dealing it.

Sort of like, nerfed Equipment type things, that you can carry two and are more readily available than equipment was, so you don't horde it as much.

Pie in the sky stuff. :P

Yes, pretty much.

I don't think so. Just something I thought of when I considered that Halo's maps are much smaller generally and team roles much looser in most gametypes.

Well HUDs are easier to talk about. Trying to imagine how the choice between Sprint or Jetpack would affect the game is much, much more difficult. If Reach is any indication, I suspect that some maps will overwhelmingly favour one or the other. Having the Jetpack compete for attention/use against several other useful abilities naturally nerfs it's use. I think that is overall the better choice, since Sprint is very nice to always have.

I suspect that sprint having a constantly varying speed and having an associated melee-damage modifier will make it feel inconsistent in practice. And do all grenades have a cooking mechanic? It seems like a weird idea when Halo's grenades have activation requirements.
