In Response To: Re: Halo: Revolution - A Mock Game Doc (Part 1) (Nighend) : I would think that jumping, or simply being airborne, could be used to : activate the jetpack with the bumper. Having to go back and forth between : sprint and jetpack manually might break the flow of the game. Many, if not : most players use the jetpack after jumping already. While that's an excellent idea for streamlining the functions of both, what it comes down to is that I don't want the player to have both. (And you're not meant to be switching between them on the fly, like weapons, in case that wasn't clear.) Sprint and Jetpack are both mechanics that drastically change level and encounter design. If the player could always have both, that means the designer constantly has to account for both, which could result in a wearying sense of repetition. By imposing limitations, you're creating a choice, and I think choices are interesting.
