If it turns out BOLL never bought a new copy of any of the Halo games in his life, is he no longer a fan?

If Miguel picks up Destiny down the road, is he no longer Bungie's #1 fan?

If Leviathan never actually owned a copy of Halo but played it at his friend's house, would he suddenly be like your son?

To suggest that if you want to be a fan you suddenly 'owe' anybody anything is downright offensive. You are a fan if you love the material. You are a fan if you contribute to the community based on that love. You can even be a fan if you pirate everything.

Passion for the subject is all that matters.

I am horribly horribly sad that the industry's brainwashing is working; you are a poster case.
