I think the urge to make the Forerunner humanoid is strong, and their suit design naturally flows towards that, but since seeing the Hannaford Forerunner armor-suit-thing, I've been picturing them a lot more like Geth from Mass Effect.

Now they probably also wouldn't have a lightbulb head like Geth do, but I just see Forerunners as a cross between that and the Hannaford suit.
