In Response To: Re: Forerunner Visualization *IMG* (Quirel) : Gotta admit, this is the first concept you've published that has left me : disappointed. If I had run into it somewhere else, and didn't know that it : was, I would have assumed that it was fan-art for Power Rangers or Guyver. : Maybe I'm jaded, but it doesn't look alien. It just looks like a guy in a : suit. : And I know, 'That's what the Forerunner practically are'. Keep in mind that
: To me, any design that didn't draw heavily from the Sentinels is bound to
: They don't walk. They hover. They don't aim the gun they're holding; the gun
: That's how I had imagined a Forerunner warrior, anyway. As far as Forerunner
: *They can be regrown or replaced with prostheses, you're pretty much screwed
: **Or whatever the Sentinels hover with. Interesting descriptions. I've actually always thought of the Forerunners being very humanoid since 343 Guilty Spark said that whole "Last time you asked me" debacle of a mystery in Halo CE. I definitely want to do the integrated weapons concept - that's actually what I tried to do here with his right arm. You can also see a variant in this image. I definitely think it would be cool to see a Forerunner with a cannon for an arm, with the power of a UNSC frigate. I think hovering could definitely be a possible use of the suit, but I also think they would be using their legs when they wanted to, as much of Halo and the Ark seem constructed for pedestrian use as well as Sentinel use, and what we've seen of them in Legends and Anniversary showed plenty of running. Actually... if on their own installation, they might just their teleportation network... As for the 'guy in the suit' issue, I think that might just have to be one weakness that I can try and cover with a more mysterious presentation of the character/s with lights, coloring, posture, etc. For the needs of Shield and Sword, as well as possibly Halo 4, there might be really be someone in that suit... or someone may use that suit or parts of it... at some point... ahem. :) So I think possibly taking a hit to the mystery so that it might be a bit more 'usable,' might be necessarily for the sake of future gameplay opportunities. But I'll definitely be thinking of 'more Sentinel' as you side in future sketches of this design.
