In Response To: "Orbital DRY-dock"?! *NM* (ZackDark) Yes, a similar term is used in much science fiction, notably Star Trek. Most naval ships are not constructed in the water, but in a dock where water's been siphoned out. In the transition to space, the term carries over where the ship is built in orbit, this time clearly away from water. Therefore drydock. Thanks for the question. |
