So it felt unusual to us fans. This is all great, I love this stuff and have no issue with it. It was one of my favorite parts of Reach. : To me, the writers were definitely familiar with the universe they've/they're : creating and are immersed in 100% of their day, but wanted to view that : universe from a different perspective, which makes it SEEM like a : completely different kind of world to some players. It did to me, as well, : upon initial playthroughs, but my opinion has evolved since then. :) I can't agree with this, though. There's all sorts of generic SF lingo tossed in (impulse drives, for instance) as well as poorly understood military jargon. It's like Halo fanfic. Contrast the game's storywriting with the beautiful radio transmissions we've transcribed - that material captures the texture of the universe.
