I love Aliens as much as anyone, but the dialog for that movie is 98% cliche-ridden "listen to me because I am a badass" tripe. Are you forgetting about the entirety of the flight deck scenes etc? Yeah - don't put the dialog for that film on any pedestal now ;) Regarding the others - BSG had excellent writing - the problem is, they weren't Spartans. Re-read the books and you'll find that the Spartans are almost universally short on words unless it's expository... Guess what we get from most of the Spartans in Reach? :P
