In Response To: Possible explanation (Avateur) : Though as for whether or not Bungie did it intentionally is beyond me. If : this is the Army contacting the Navy, then the formality would essentially : make sense. If communications in the future are as whack as they are in : the present, communicating between different branches of the armed forces : can be a real bitch during a combat situation. There are so many channels : of communication going on within each branch that you pretty much have to : call in and wait for your communications to be redirected to the other : branch you're trying to get in touch with. This is going based off of : realism, btw. Imagine being a Marine unit in Iraq aware of an enemy : position and seeing an Army unit heading right toward an ambush without : any way to get word to them because of how long it takes to get the right : unit on the right communications setup all before they end up entering : that ambush. : The SIIIs are Army, right? So it would make sense that they'd be addressing
That was actually my first thought, that it was an inter-service communication deal, but I just don't buy it. I believe the Army falls under the UNSC, and moreover, I just don't think it was intentional. :P I'm open to being proved wrong. Also this level's dialogue bewilders me, not in its writing (it's pedestrian enough), but in why they felt the need to split up the directives between Kat, Carter, the Dot AI, and some random...guy. That's a lot of people pulling my strings!
