Out of curiosity, are these people, by any chance, made of... straw?

One would hope :)

I do think Bungie often listens to fans who are, in the minds of some others, insufficiently hardcore to made their opinion of any value. However, I also think they've got good BS-detectors and won't be ruining key mechanics for the sake of those who always find something to blame every time they die. I do think they may be looking for ways to create more tradeoffs and perhaps ways to lengthen encounters.
