The adding or removal of it is not going to really affect the : game negatively, it'll just add a "ah damn, a grenade" effect. : Seriously, no different than the warnings from a locked-on Missile Pod, or : the laser sound you hear before you get destroyed. You know your screwed, : but at least you know what did it. I don't care about it being in one way or the other beyond finding it pointless and catering to people with less skill at the game. I'm just starting to wonder how competitive Reach is going to play (specifically thinking about ranked play) with what appears to be steps to lesson the effects of many guns and techniques while adding many new means of prevention and ease to the flow of play. I mean, fix spawns, or the way host and latency is dealt with. People wonder how and where they died from in regards to those issues far more than whether or not they could or couldn't see a grenade sufficiently well before it was going to inevitably kill them at their feet anyway.
