In Response To: Re: Any word on Transports? (Hethal)

: The pinacle use of the dropship would come in during multiplayer games, not
: single player. I don't mind that I won't be flying any dropships in the
: single player portion of the game, but damn it, it could have been
: extremely useful and fun in multiplayer. As I said before, hopefully the
: PC/Mac version of Halo with its multiplayer bounty will remedy this
: situation, if not its going to just plain SUCK (not the game mind you,
: just the situation). If there was a way that would help, I would protest.
: Maybe I should go tie myself to one of the Bungie Team's computers.

Heh well it all depends on the size of multiplayer maps, if you have something on Tribes scale then yeah you NEED air transport. On the other hand if levels are small then there isn't much point in having the transit. The issue with Xbox is that 8 players would pretty much take up all of the dropship, I think that it would be more favorable to transport smaller numbers in that case. In addition the Xbox version I would think would lend itself better to smaller more focused levels.

Now for the PC version I don't know how different of a game they will make but there is the potential for much larger levels where air transit becomes extremely important. In addition the suspected increase in the number of players lends itself more to this. Basically I agree with you, but it isn't just a function of multiplayer vs. single player, it has to do also with the map size and the number of players.
