In Response To: Bungie and the H2 Maps splitting MM (politics) (FyreWulff)

: Two posts down, Jeremiah talks about how Bungie is apparently still trying to
: get Microsoft to release the new maps for the original Xbox as well as the
: 360.

: But, he also hints at the fact that these new maps might not be limited to
: just one playlist, as with Team Preview - they may be present in most of
: them, shutting out Xbox players from all of those playlists.

: Honestly, I'm sort of the opinion that if we're going to have to go through
: all this BS just over new maps, Bungie shouldn't have commisioned them at
: all. Either that, or I feel like starting some sort of letter writing
: campaign to the Microsoft offices (does anybody have an idea of the
: office/address I should be writing to?) asking them politely to consider
: all the people that bought Halo 2 for the Xbox.

The only upside that I can see for this is that forcing everyone to jump to the 360 will effectively eliminate modding, although I am not sure about bridging and standbys.

The downside for a lot of hardcore players is that the Original Xbox remains the platform of choice for MLG purposes for various reasons (maybe 3Suns can elaborate why this is so?).

All I can say is, if they are going to funnel everyone onto the 360, at least give us some tangible news on the 65nm processor. If they (read: Microsoft) hope that they can sell off their inventory of soon-to-be-obsolete 90nm 360's, then personally I believe this will turn their market negative (not that anyone at MS cares about what I think lol).

Now considering a dual one-two-punch release of the brand new maps *with* a new 65nm Xbox360, well..Thats not such a bad approach.
