I don't think this is a reasonable argument. Halo 2 was released for the original Xbox. Nothing has changed either with the Xbox, or the game, or the Xbox Live service to make it difficult for Microsoft to support this platform (or, any more difficult than it is now). If (and this is a BIG if; I think Bungie is going to try pretty hard to make sure this doesn't happen) it comes to pass that the new maps remain available only to 360 owners, their release will effectively shut Xbox owners out of Matchmaking. I can't speak for anyone else, but I bought Xbox Live for Halo 2 Matchmaking. My renewal date came up a week ago; I'm paid up through early March, 2008. Requiring me to buy a $400 console in order to continue using my $50 investment seems totally unreasonable to me. (Yes, I'll buy a 360 at some point, for Halo 3 (and probably the Halo 3 beta) - but that's irrelevant here; that should NOT factor into this situation.) I dunno. I see where they're coming from - but I don't like it. I think, at the very least, if the new maps are released as 360-only, original Xbox owners should be offered the chance to turn in their Live service for a pro-rated refund.
