I don't think the problem was that the E3 demo : and the end of Metropolis are different. I don't think the problem was : that the Halo 2 announcement trailer and the end of Cairo Station are : different. It would definitely help because there's less "THAT'S NOT IN THE GAME, CHETZ!" gnashing from the folks out there that don't understand how game development works. : I'm saying that for reasons various and sundry, the situations in the : trailers were more dramatically satisfying than the gameplay : portions/in-game cutscenes they became. Hindsight is 20/20, sir. If the demo was... hmmm, playing as Arbiter, going camo, sneaking up on the heretics... or let's say, playing as MC, seeing him hijack a ghost and then a wraith. Yah, I'm sure it would've been a really *dry* experience. : I don't think releasing trailers closer to the game's release date, or making : the trailers more closely match the final content of the game, is really : the issue, because it wasn't necessarily the existence of differences : between the two that was the problem. It was the nature of the : differences. Says you! We aren't all aesthetics that are parsing the granularity of the experience. Most folks just want to see some kick-ass action as a taste of what *they'll* be doing in the privacy of their own homes Real Soon Now. : A cutscene that was more representative of the game simply would not have : been as impressive as those demos were. That might have lessened the : disappointment some felt, addressing the issue that way seems to me to be : putting the cart before the horse. : Or the plow. Or... whatever. What was the 'demo' of Halo 1? I wouldn't go with the original 'before xbox' demo obviously. Am I off base (or just losing my memory) thinking it's the demo of Silent Cartographer? Driving a jeep INTO the inner chambers was pretty rousing moment, I think. Your turn. - M
