In Response To: Re: Asking an ignorant question... (Louis Wu) The problem I have with the 'not wanting to be pestered by fans' reason is that it logically suggests that Halo 3 IS the next project: 1. If Halo 3 isn't the next project then they can come out and confirm - Halo 3 is NOT the next project. We are working on something else; 2. This doesn't put Bungie in a worse position than they currently are. Sure they get fans asking what the next project is, but they get that now. 3. If Halo 3 IS the next project then it makes sense not to confirm it for the above reason. Just for clarity, I'm not suggesting that Halo 3 is the next game, just that the 'not pestered by fans' thing doesn't work on its own. As I see it there must be a number of other factors: 1. They are working on more than one game at the moment and they are not sure which will release first. This could depend on how the launch titles go. If Perfect Dark sells badly for instance, Halo 3 might be elevated above the other title; 2. Bungie are simply secretive for the sake of being secretive (group think)/Microsoft are holding back details about the new non-Halo game to draw the sting of an upcoming Sony announcement such as pricing/stats of the ps 3; 3. Bungie are doing something totally random at the moment such as assisting Rare with Perfect Dark (possible if Microsoft really want to push for launch) and so technically the next project being worked on by Bungie is Perfect Dark; 4. Bungie don't want to make a 'negative' announcement. You don't help Microsoft's share price by saying, no we are not working on Halo 3, but we have nothing currently to show what we are working on. Really they seem to be the reasons. |
