In Response To: backwards compatibility = recompiled games (3Suns)
It seems simple to me, developer updates the xbe into and xex, preload all xex files onto each xbox 360's hdd, have the xex use files off the old game disc in the disc drive, and just execute the xex from the 360's dashboard. The 360 could even go one step further to conserve space though and read the xbe, find out what game it is and auto-download the needed xex off live onto the hdd. Of course as stated before, most games I have run into have very small xbe's, 3 megs is the biggest I've seen.
