In Response To: recompiled on PowerPC = easier for OSX port? (Flashman)

: So, I wonder if getting Halo 2 to run on a PowerPC chip is a shortcut for
: making it run on MacOS? Of course, programming for a console is different
: to programming for a computer with an operating system running over the
: top (yeah?), but I reckon this might be a step they'd need to do in any
: case.

: Recompilation could be interesting, in that respect.

Woah woah woah.

A thought occurs. Surely, it's only the executables and a few other files that are the cause of the incompatibility with hardware. The resources and like, the stuff which takes up most of the space on the disc should surely be unafected. So,would it not be simpler, and more popular for Microsoft just to release downloadable versions of the new executables, which would run on the HD instead of the old executables on the game disks...
