In Response To: Re: backwards compatibility = recompiled games (Reiginko) : This seems odd. Microsoft owns Virtual PC, which emulates Windows (an x86
Virtual PC is a decent solution for software emulation, but when it comes to DirectX/Direct3D/DirectWhatever ;) rendering, any emulation solution seen up to this point has been horribly incapable of too much. It's like trying to run Windows games on a Linux platform using WINE; there's a small subset of the DirectX API that's been reverse engineered and implemented, but things are nowhere close to being able to run, say, Halo PC at an acceptable framerate with shaders, like on Windows. Still... things could have improved significantly from this situation... after all, Microsoft does have access to how the API works. |
