In Response To: Re: Factual question (Farreg) I live in Washington state which is one of the few states(or the only) that has a set down LAW to ban the selling of M-rated videogames to anyone under the age of 17. Has it affected me at all? No, instead of just walking into the store and buying the game, I have my parents do it with me(actually, I am 17 now, so it does not affect me anymore). My parents would briefly glance over the title and then purchase it, showing no doubt due to the fact that we have a great relationship and I have earned their trust. That, I believe could be the ultimate solution. If a child does something wrong and blames it on a videogame that is M-rated(which it usually is) then there is no-one else to blame BUT the parents. They bought the game! Anyone older than 17 should be smart enough not to connect videogames and reality also. Have videogames desensitized me? No, absolutely not. I will never go to war and probably will never shoot a real gun. Why? Because I do not like guns!(I have nothing against the use of them, but I would never want a loaded one in my hands). Hmmmm...I love Halo, which is all run and gunning yet I would never use a real gun. (Now I may start to sound stupid) I finished reading that article and turned on the simpsons. It showed Milhouse getting in an jet fighter and pretending to fire, he yelled, "Take that mom, Take that Dad!!" Could it be that videogames are a way to releave stress? I know that after a full day of school and then work I love to just come home and blow off some steam in Team Slayer. I have a few friends that feel the exact same way....but we are wierd :P...... Anyways, take my opinions with a grain of plasma because it is late and that article really pissed me off! -Art Vandelay | |
