Thats a nice blanket statement that is also completely false (and voting records of Congress to prove it). Federal Civil rights: Conservatives at the time argues that it violated states rights, and "God's Law". Womens sufferage: Ditto. Environmental protection: Conservatives said (and still say) it restricts free enterprise. Remember the late 80's when they were saying that there's no such thing as Global Warming? Even the conservative Drudge Report is actively reporting about global climate change. Food safety laws: Again restricts free enterprise, never mind there's rat feces (and bodies) in your beef. Anyways, I understand your arguement: liberals are trying to ban games...so they are bad.
Banning and status quo are (historically and presently) conservative hallmarks. A counterbalance to idealist liberals. The "reason" and "passion" of american politics.
