Given further thought, I think I may have an answer as to why liberals are the ones trying to restrict free speech (which it seems to me is often held as their highest goal) in this matter. Please bear with me. Conservatives tend to be pro-gun, whereas liberals are often not. What's interesting is that the only two states trying to ban “violent” video games (California and Illinois) are the two states with the most restrictive firearms laws (or at least two of the three; I don’t remember specifically whether Illinois is more restrictive about firearms than New York). That is a rather interesting coincidence, if one believes in those. I trust all of you notice that most of the "violent" games these days involve guns and the military rather heavily. What that means I leave to you.

I would imagine that the state of New York may soon try to restrict “violent” video games, if the current trend continues.
