The answer there is to make AO carbon compatible with OS 9, as it should be in the first place. It would be much more profitable IMO to track down the incompatibility issues than to maintain parallel tracks. Done right, AO carbon should be able to play on everything down to system 8.5, making it available to any Mac with a PowerPC processor (no one in their right mind should expect AO to play on a 68040 processor).

Now here I differ. The mappers are all on Macs because there are no editing tools for PC. The tables are turned on this one. If Pfhorge ever is finished, hower, it could easily be ported to the PC. The reason I believe that AO carbon needs to be kept in sync with AO SDL is precisely that the mappers are all on Macs and would have no incentive to maintain compatibility across platforms. If you could add a new feature, even knowing that it isn't supported on Windows machines, would you? That's my point. We want to encourage PC users to play AO - the more people we bring into the fold, the more we keep the dream alive.
