The games (and, specifically, third party : scenarios) tend to lead toward calling the SO "Marine," but that : doesn't really resonate with me; I've always thought of Doomguy as a : Marine. And we all know that Doomguy is a wuss compared to the SO. On the : other hand, "Destiny" seems a bit too dorky, SO too impersonal, : and so forth. When talking to the SO, I would suggest using second-person terminology. When talking about him, Durandal once uses the term "our friend". Other than that, using pronouns is a good way to dodge a lot of it... Other than that, you could call him "the cyborg" or any number of abstract references. I would try not using the "Marine", and "Destiny" is rather dorky. You could try using different terms depending on how whoever is speaking relates to him. That is the best I can do. :P
