I did with the landscapes, in the hope of reducing the jerks that happen when they first appear in a level. But that made no difference at all, so I'm going going to revert them to .png.

Since I'm on the topic of in-game jerking when new graphics appear on the screen - this is something I've noticed in both Trojan (landscapes) and in the xmas-sub (landscapes and massive monster invasions). What are the mechanics behind this? I thought the textures were loaded with the level. This seems almost as if the textures are loaded on the fly - as the textures appear in the game.

(have you played the xmas-sub, btw? Best eye-candy since Tempus Irae)

I'm making RX on a 867MHz QS G4. The load times are long, but tolerable - now that AO has loading bars. The black screen we were presented with before that was not so good (has AO crashed or is it *still* loading?).
