In Response To: Re: Status (C Lund) : So I'm stuck with a messy AO folder. Would it really be that much work to
No one is going to judge your scenario by how few files you have in your Aleph One folder. From the screenshots I've seen, they'll be drooling too much to care. Are you going to forego bundling Aleph One, too, so you don't have to include copies of the GPL and LGPL licenses? : Uh, I don't think adding fog to levels that don't have it is a good idea.
Well, there used to be controls for all that. But, apparently, those have been removed. : Nah, the fog works fine. The only thing wrong with it (from my perspective)
It certainly doesn't work the way it did the last time I enabled it (years ago), which was to add fog to levels that don't have fog. It's probably OK to enable this by default now. And, like I said, the changes I'm making to the SDL versions should make it possible to enable OpenGL by default in the next release (late spring?) Those are the only default prefs changes you were going to make anyway, right? We both win. Also, since you don't read the devel list, I'm going to try to get a preview build and tools out to you scenario guys soon, in case you want to start using the new .dds texture formats. Which you definitely will: I'm getting 3 second level load times and smooth framerates with 512x512 wall textures loaded, on this old G4 500/PCI Radeon 7000 32 MB. Out of curiosity, do you have access to a Windows machine? That's where the best .dds creation tools are... |
