Because, as you discovered, it's not MML (which is all the Scripts folder, for lack of a better name, should contain). Aleph One tries to parse it as MML if it's in that folder, and chokes on it.

Code would have to be added to except parsing of that one particular file as MML. All to move a file from one folder to another where it technically does not belong? I'll pass.

There are many current systems that can not run Aleph One in OpenGL, FWIW, that could probably render the levels just fine in software (just without fog or 3D models; but it's better than not being able to play!)
