Tycho certainly had an eventful adolescence, no question. I do wonder whether his morals really warped, or if his morals are centered around loyalty, and when his allegiance was forcibly changed so did his feelings toward humanity. Of course, if Tycho were loyal to the Pfhor, he sure had a funny way of showing it. Murdering half your ship's command structure isn't textbook loyalty. But look at it from an AI's somewhat detached point of view: the Pfhor steal technology rather than invent and adapt, the encounter on the Marathon showed how tenuously they control the S'pht, and a Durandal-S'pht alliance is a credible threat to the empire. Shaking up the status quo and prioritizing Durandal's neutralization are good goals to maintain Pfhor dominance in the future. In other words, Tycho's vendetta isn't incompatible with his new masters' long-term well being. : Would Thoth factor into this? I hadn't thought about fitting Thoth into the rampancy spectrum before. One could draw parallels between Thoth's cryptic poems and Durandal's songwriting on Blaspheme Quarantine; are they both being deliberately obtuse to flaunt their intelligence? Or maybe Zen is just a phase somewhere beyond Jealousy.
