In Response To: Halo 2 : Anniversary by time of Halo 5? (Rice) I don't want another Anniversary. I've never had any problems coming back to Halo CE or Halo 2 despite the supposedly "dated" graphics and I thought the changes in CEA did more harm than good. I didn't see it as a "love letter" to myself as a fan, because it consistently felt like it was trying to tarnish my memory of the original. It's as if the flashy new coat of paint was there to tell me how much the original sucked and how much better this new version is. But the thing is, to me, it wasn't any better. For one, HCE's visual style was very focused and made perfect use of the limited technology available at the time, while CEA's is completely discordant and all over the place despite all the new tools available to the developers. Each game has its own unique feel, created by the visual style, art design, graphics, music, sound, gameplay, and every other aspect working in synchrony. Tampering with some of those makes the end result feel like a bizarre mutant version of the original, or like a zombie - it plays like the original and even looks like a rough approximation of it, but the soul just isn't there. So, my firm opinion is, leave Halo 2 alone. Concentrate on the new stuff, don't violate what has come before.
