In Response To: Meh. Maybe. (uberfoop) : A Halo 2 Anniversary would perhaps turn out somewhat better, though, for : several reasons: -Online multiplayer would be much more likely to show up : than for CEA. This is because peer-to-peer networking for Halo 2 has : always existed; more or less the only work that would have to be done to : get Halo 2's MP working again would be modifying the lobby system to : recognize modern XBL accounts. Even if it would work better, I wouldn't expect 343i to go through and rerelease Halo 2 with working multiplayer if they're already focusing on Halo 4, but I would expect the maps to be released as DLC, of course, same as CE:A. We don't have a Blood Gulch in Halo 4 yet, and unless one of the 3 DLC packs announced has it, then we'll need one. : -Better planning could improve the smoothness of development, both due to
My biggest problem with Halo CE:A was the differences. Taking in fan-reaction and whatnot, along with looking at later versions of materials in-game they could really refine the visuals and determine more from a patient viewpoint what needs to change. There were a lot of things in Anniversary that I didn't like remastered, and it took a lot of the thematic tone and feel out of a lot of levels. 343 Guilty Spark and The Library for specifics, and the Pillar of Autumn was turned into some weird ruddy-brown factory instead of the spaceship we were all familiar with.
: -Halo 2's ports have historically been much more visually accurate than CE's.
Classic Mode in a potential Halo 2 remake shouldn't be upscaled, it should be altered. Many HD remakes of games are done with new textures, sounds, and other such niceties. Halo 2 should be re-trimmed and fitted, not just ported. Textures, sounds, the good stuff. But nothing that should override the previous experience.
