Either I forgot or I never quite got it in the first place, what was the problem with that, exactly?

I doubt that, I think they're getting a massive amount of negative response and they're going "all right we heard you already!", and they say in that part they'll try to make stuff available to everyone eventually, which is good, and I don't like to say it, but it's more than Bungie said they'd do, at least for the last 5 years or so.

SESpider is in a rough patch and this could help.
